Lazy Apple Crisp

Perfect for enjoying time with family instead of cooking during the holidays! Not to mention the spices are suiting for Christmas.

Ingredients

7-9 apples (I used a medley of Granny Smith and red delicious)

1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 tbsp sugar

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

1 tbsp ground nutmeg

1 1/2 cups quick oats

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/4 cup ground flaxseed

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup butter

Instructions

1. Peel, core and finely slice apples.

2. In your crockpot or slow cooker of choice, combine first five ingredients listed above (apples, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg). Stir with spatula or wooden spoon until apples are coated.

3. Separately in a large bowl, combine remaining ingredients (oats, flour, flaxseed, brown sugar, cinnamon) and stir together. Cut butter into small cubes and add to pat mixture. Use a fork to crumble.

4. Smooth apple mixture so relatively flat and even in your slow cooker. Sprinkle oat mixture over top. Turn slow cooker on high for two hours or low for 3-4 hours, until your apples are soft. Turn off heat and let stand for 30 min to one hour before serving.

Sprinkle more cinnamon and nutmeg on top before serving if desired (I personally love more spices but not all do!)

Merry Christmas!!
