This is a quick and relatively easy recipe with a savoury flavour. I love going back to my French roots and this dish feels like home to me! Enjoy.
Ingredients
2-3 lbs rump roast or another cut of your preference – stewing beef, round cut, chuck meat, etc.
~2 cups of beef broth (I use reduced sodium)
1 heaping tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced
Lots of black pepper, depending on your preference
~6 French rolls, Italian buns, feminine baguettes, or whatever you prefer. Try to select a bun with a crusty exterior
Cheese for slicing – provolone, havarti, mozzarella, etc. I prefer havarti.
Instructions
1. Place beef in crock pot and add broth, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
2. Remove beef from crock pot and slice into thin pieces so you can stack them.
3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice buns in half then layer beef and top with your choice of cheese. Place buns in oven and toast for two minutes, or until cheese melts.
4. Using a small bowl, ladle juices for dipping. Serve with a garden salad.
Bon appetit!
